All of us at the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club hope that you and yours are enjoying a wonderful summer!  Hopefully it has been a healthy one filled with good times, good friends and good music!  As usual, summer is going by too fast – but the good news is, the Hurdy Gurdy will be starting another season of exceptional concerts beginning on September 12!  Our first concert for the season at the Fair Lawn Community Center will feature The THE BAND Band in a special acoustic tribute to the legendary “Basement Tapes.” Tickets are now on sale!

New this season – we are offering advance tickets at a discount.  Tickets sold at the door on the day of the concert will be priced $3 higher than the advance ticket price. You can purchase the lower cost advance tickets online or by mail, details can be found at our website – www.hurdygurdyfolk.org.

As many of you already know, the Hurdy Gurdy recently ended our offering of “memberships.” (Existing memberships will be honored up to the original expiration date.)  This decision was made in response to feedback we received in our survey last fall, combined with an examination of our membership program and the declining number of patrons who participated in recent seasons.

A NEW WAY TO SUPPORT THE HURDY GURDY - We do wish to offer something special to express our appreciation to all of you who have supported and been the heart and soul of this club. Starting in September, we will offer HURDY GURDY SUPPORTER CARDS.  A purchase of the card will entitle the holder to the following benefits:

1.     The ability to purchase any available tickets at the door at advance ticket prices (1 ticket per card, per show.)

2.     A free cup of coffee or tea at each show - just show your card at the concession stand and it’s on us! (One cup per card, per show please.)

3.     A free party for all supporters on Saturday April 16, 2016!  This night will feature a “community sing” where everyone can bring their voice and/or instrument to share a song, or just join in the chorus. This will be a song circle with free refreshments where we will celebrate the community spirit of our club and the music we all love!

Most importantly – your purchase of a Hurdy Gurdy Supporter Card provides support for  our not-for-profit club and assists our mission to bring great acoustic folk artists to our stage – and more! We continue to work on new plans for the future events, and with your help there will be some exciting new offerings in store!

The HURDY GURDY SUPPORTER CARD will be sold only in the lobby on the night of concerts. The card will be sold for $10 per card and will be good for 12 months from the month of issue (Example – if you purchase a card at our September 2015 concert, it will be good through August 31, 2016. If you purchase a card at our October 2015 concert, it will be good through September 30, 2016, etc.) The card cannot be transferred – it must be used by the person to whom it is issued. You CAN purchase tickets for family and friends – you will just need to give the name to whom the card should be made out to when you purchase.  You must physically present the card in order to receive the benefits.

The 2015-2016 Hurdy Gurdy concert calendar is filled with exciting artists and shows that are specially priced to enable you to experience the diverse talent we are offering. Artists like the Kennedys, Brother Sun, Pierce Pettis, the Chapin Sisters, Scott Ainslie and many others will grace our stage and provide evenings of exceptional music you won’t want to miss! The Kennedys will be celebrating their 20^th anniversary with a special “all-request” show in November. We will “introduce” you to many new faces through our “Noteworthy Nights” series as well as a variety of guest artists that are rising in the folk community. December’s concert will be a special benefit concert and food drive for the Center for Food Action with artists from Tribes Hill.   Be sure to mark your calendar for these shows and become a supporter of the Hurdy Gurdy Folk Music Club!

We hope to see you on Saturday September 12 at the Fair Lawn Community Center when The THE BAND Band kicks off our season and transports us back to the late 1960s and to the basement of a pink house near Woodstock, NY when Bob Dylan and The Band gathered to record a treasure trove of classic songs.
