A Hurdy Gurdy Noteworthy Night Concert
$20 ($15 for members**)

The Hurdy Gurdy's special series of co-bill concerts returns!
Hurdy Gurdy Noteworthy Nights
A evening of music with two great artists  for the price of one!
A great way to experience the finest in acoustic music1

One part Americana, two parts Folk, a dash of Country-flavored rock - all served up by multi award-winning, chart-topping songstress Loretta Hagen.

Loretta Hagen delivers rich alto vocals, polished award winning lyrics and tightly woven harmonies; the hallmark of her musical career. A 2011 winner of the NJ Folk Festival Songwriter Competition, Loretta recently released her third CD, Mud and Stone, featuring uplifting heartfelt ballads, playful up-tempo country swing, and cool bluesy grooves. “Mud and Stone” debuted at #10 on Folk DJ Charts, consistently #1 on the Roots Music Report for NJ, #5 Top 50 Folk Albums RMR, and is receiving airplay throughout the US, Canada and Europe. Loretta has shared the stage with Roger McGuinn, Steve Forbert, Richie Havens, Gretchen Wilson to name a few and plays premiere stages across the Northeast. Loretta’s melodies leave folks feeling as if they are listening to their own stories set to song.

Following her critically acclaimed CD Something More, co-produced by Pat McInerney (Nanci Griffith), Hagen released Sundown Till Dawn, a CD that garnered rave reviews and radio play across the country. Sundown Till Dawn is extremely personal, with the title track written about her mother who suffers with Alzheimer's Disease. The emotionally charged ballad is included on the soundtrack of a film called "10 Mountains 10 Years" chronicling the journey of a group of mountain climbers who are raising awareness about the disease.

"Loretta Hagen writes songs that sound like they can come from the Heartland,
but they also really come from the heart." - John Platt, WFUV-FM

"[Loretta's been] blessed with ... an uncanny gift of being able to write songs about everyday life which tug on the heart strings"
 - Sol Zeller, Borderline Folk Music Club

Vickie Russell, touring singer/songwriter based in New Paltz, NY, performs her stunningly original heartfelt songs on keyboard and guitar. With influences from Bach and Chopin to Carol King, Elton John and Sting, Russell will pull you into her world of love, laughter and hope. Joined by husband David Michael Peters on guitar, bass and harmonies, this duo will keep you moved and mesmerized. This award winning versatile artist keeps audiences enthralled whether she's taking things slow on painfully honest pop ballads such as Walk Away and Welcome Home, wailing the blues on Manville, or sharing a funny true life story through a country tune like Next.

Concertgoers have enjoyed her as a main act as well as when opening for names like the 10,000 Maniacs, Donovan, Christine Lavin, Rick Danko, Leon Russell, Richie Havens, Tuck and Patti, Cris Williamson, Full Frontal Folk, David Wilcox, Jeffrey Gaines, Peter Mayer, Groovelily, John Flynn, Chris Smither, Cheryl Wheeler, Lesley Gore and Jill Sobule. Playing throughout the USA, Europe, Japan and in her native New York hotspots, Vickie Russell is winning the hearts of audiences around the world.

"Thought provoking songwriting, delivered with passionate piano playing
and powerful vocals."
– New Paltz Times

"With her soaring soprano, passionate piano playing and insightful lyrics, fans of Tori Amos should find Russell right up their alley. But Russell is definitely her own woman, playing a classical-folk-rock fusion that explores themes of love, hope and empowerment."
 – Times Union, Albany NY
